Description
This is my cat Julius ([link] [link]) hiding under an elephant... Ok, the elephant is my dog's toy
This is the first oilpainting I did since my last one, which was at age 9. So fourteen years later I'm quite proud that I got better at oilpainting even without practicing (Or does the other stuff like acryllics etc count? damn...)
I'm a bit afraid of working in oil because my grandfather painted in oil and my mother is very fond of his paintings, so I changed to acryllics after I found my motivation for drawing (again) (In most schools in germany art classes are not voluntary and they can make you really sad. You won't learn to draw there, I was fed up with art for 6 years, then I could quit art at school and started drawing again.
It is a bit akward if everything you draw is compared to your grandfather, so I found acryllics. Now my grandfather is dead for a few years and I still have his old oilcolours. (mine to, but the colours of a 9 year old look a bit desastrous, so only ma grandfather's are useable...)
So I tried them out.
I'm quite happy, to say the truth. I'd imagined worse. I cheated a bit (the carpet isn't pure red...), but I like the outcome.
Still I'd rather see this as my first oilpainting, so it is in my opinion quite Ok, even if there is a lot for me to learn. A lot. more. to. learn
So I would be very glad about some advice

Nice, I love it when the texture of the canvas shines through.
